Vacation Highlights: Day 2

It's been a little bit since my first post of my Western Vacation.  I still have so much to share, that I thought it was time for Day 2!

After a wonderful night at the Kananskis Mountain Lodge, we set out for Canmore where we stopped in the cute little town for breakfast at the Hogshead.

Breakfast on vacation wouldn't be complete without a mimosa.  I took part while hubby drank a boring orange juice.  Hubs went for eggs Benedict; while I tried out the savory waffle.  It's hard to tell in the photo, but this was a giant Belgian waffle topped with candied bacon, Hollandaise sauce and 2 eggs over easy.  It was absolutely amazing!

After breakfast, we set out for Banff and Lake Louise.  The scenery was just breathtaking.

We had stopped on our way into the park to use the restroom and found this cute scenic stop where a Magpie was grooming itself on the wall.  The panoramic views left nothing wanting, that's for sure.

As we approached Lake Louise, which was bustling, the clouds started to roll in.  You can see in this photo that the mountain tops are lost in them.  That didn't stop us from heading in though; there was NO WAY I was going to miss this opportunity.

...and it didn't disappoint.

I actually didn't want to leave.  There was just something about the majestic beauty that spoke to my soul.  I felt so at peace and connected with nature in those moments.

When we finally left, much to my dismay, we head into Banff for dinner.  Little did I know, that on our drive back to Banff I took a picture of  Mount Rundell.  I took the photo simply because I thought the mountain was cool looking; I had no idea it was actually a popularly known mountain, lol.

Banff...what a cute little village!  There was so many awesome options for dinner and we settled on a cute Tapas restaurant called Block Kitchen & Bar where we enjoyed a variety of dishes to share.  In the photos, you'll see our beverages for the evening and two of the plates we chose:  Vegetable Samosas and Naan with a dip trio.

After dinner, we wandered around the quaint village and took in more of the sights and sounds.  In the village square, people were handing out ingredients to make s'mores.  We decided to bypass that and instead went to Cows for ice cream.

Our day ended with a drive back to Calgary. We drove into quite the storm and most amazingly weird rainbow.

If you're still with me, thanks for reading.  I hope you're enjoying the photos..and I'm not done yet.  Stay tuned for Day 3 highlights, which include our day at the Stampede!
