CARD: Free As A Cardinal

Good morning Stampers and thank you for visiting.

Today I have a the card I made for a sketch challenge swap I've participated in with some of my demonstrator friends.  Here is the sketch we were given:

You can see that's it's pretty simple.  The challenge itself comes in taking this simple design and making it yours.  Here's what I came up with:

I used Free As A Bird to create this card.  The base is a sheet of whisper white cut 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and folded to become 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  A piece of basic black cut to 4" x 2 1/4" was then stamped with the flowers using Versamark ink and heat embossed in white.  A real red rectangle was created using a die cutting machine and the stitched rectangle dies.  The bird image from Free As a Bird is stamped in memento ink on whisper white and then I free-handed the plume on top of his head to make him look like a cardinal.  He's coloured using real red and grey granite stampin' blends.  The image and the matte are then cut out using the stitched shape dies.  A piece of real red ribbon and some rhinestones finish it off nicely.
I think it turned out well; what do you think?

Remember, you can purchase these items from my online store if you live in Canada.  Click on any of the images below to be taken directly to the item.  Orders over $25 will receive my Top Card 6 Designs PDF at no additional cost to you.

Happy stampin'!
