CARD: Simply Plaid

Sometimes the simple things in life give the most pleasure.  Which is why I had to make this card when I saw the idea by another Demonstrator, Helga Hopen.  This card features the Perfectly Plaid stamp set from the Holiday Catalogue.

There really aren't a lot of elements to this card.  I've used Whisper White and Soft Suede card stock. The base is Whisper White measuring 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and folded in half to become 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  Another piece of Whisper White is cut to measure 2 1/2" x 5 1/4".  This is then run through the die cutting machine with the Scripty 3D embossing folder.  Once embossed, it is adhered to the card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Whisper White and Soft Suede card stock are then cut using the Stitched Shape dies.  The pinecones are stamped using Soft Suede.  The image is stamped, freshly inked and then immediately stamped again without reining to create the two tones.  These squares are then given a hole punch in the top and a piece of the 3/16" Linen Trim is fed through the hole and tied in a bow.  Stampin Dimenstionals stick this to the card.  The sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede.  A relatively easy card that will WOW those you give it to.

If you live in Canada, I'd love to be your Demonstrator!

CARD: Sip, Sip Hooray

Good day everyone, and thanks for stopping by.  Today, I've got a project I CASEd from fellow Demonstrator Caroline Colgan. This adorable card features the Sip, Sip Hooray stamp set and coordinating Sip & Celebrate dies from the Holiday Catalogue.
This is such a versatile stamp set.  It can be used to spread holiday cheer or salutations all year round.

The base for the card is Whisper White measuring 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".  It's then folded in half to become 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  Another piece of Whisper White is cut to be 5" x 3 3/4".  Mango Melody card stock is also cut to 5" x 3 3/4".  The Whisper White layer is run through the die cutting machine with the bubbles die at the top.  "Sip, Sip Hooray" is stamped on the same piece using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  This layer is then adhered directly on top of the Mango Melody card stock using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Once assembled this is then adhered to the card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.  On a scrap of Whisper White card stock, two wine glasses and the orange slice images are stamped with the Memento Ink.  The wine is filled in using the coordinating stamp and Mango Melody Ink; while the orange slice I coloured using the same ink and a Blender Pen.  A scrap of Mango Melody card stock is cut using the Stitched Shape dies.  Metallic Silver thread is looped behind and adhered to the Stitched shape before being adhered with Dimensionals.  The Wine glasses are then adhered to the Mango Melody piece.  Finish off the card with some Basic Adheive-Backed Sequins and you've got a card perfect for any occasion.

Stampers Showcase Blog Hop: It's Fall Y'all

Happy Fall Y'all!  That's the theme for this month's Stampers Showcase Blog Hop.  Thank you all for stopping by.  If you're new, and unsure what a hop is all about, let me explain real quick.  A hop, is a group of stampers like myself, who partner to bring to you inspiration around a particular theme.  You'll see a button towards the end of this post to take you to the next blog, and so on and so forth.  So have fun and feel free to leave me a comment to let me know you were here!

Without further ado, here's my project for this months hop.

I decided to create a decor piece for this hop.  I used a variety of stamp sets from the annual catalogue and the holiday catalogues.  If we start in the top left, the sentiment I've used is from the Seasonal Wreaths stamp set.  Below that, the beautiful tin can milk jug image is from Country Home; and, lastly the tree is from Rooted in Nature.  Above the tree, I've used the Come To Gather DSP to cut out the adorable pumpkins.  I've framed these using the Stitched Nesting Dies. At the top right, I've used the Season Layers dies to create a branch with changing leaves.  The leaves are sponged using Soft Suede and Cajun Craze inks to given them the feel that they're turning colours. Each of the blocks have sponged edges to give a more distressed, country ambiance.  I love how this piece now looks framed in a 9" x 9" shadow box (the Ribba from Ikea works perfectly).  It's a great addition to your fall decorating this year.

If you've enjoyed my take on this month's theme, be sure to hop along with everyone participating.  Click on the button below to be taken to Rick Adkins' contribution.

Happy hopping!
