Farewell, My Friend

I thought I would showcase some of the stamp sets that are on the retiring list.  It's always nice to see stamps in use to get ideas on how you would best use them in your collection.

In 2011, when My Friend was released, I did three posts showcasing this versatile stamp set.  You can find them here:  My Friend, More My Friend and Another My Friend.

Here are a couple more options for this beautiful stamp set:

What is Project Life?

As I mentioned yesterday, Stampin' Up! is now partnering with Project Life (Becky Higgins) to carry a new line of scrapbook products!  Check out my post to view the introduction video and a sneak peek of a selection of products.

I took a moment today to look more closely at the concept behind Project Life.  From Becky Higgins:  "It requires no glue, no scissors, no tools, and no skills of any kind.  The design of our products takes the guess work out of layout design so that you can focus on recording your everyday moments through your photos and journaling.  The simple design is stylish and makes it possible for you to complete more pages in less time."  Sounds great, right?

I cannot wait to order some of these new products on Monday!  Are you excited?  I certainly am!  Check back for more posts on Project Life in the coming weeks.

Revamped Card Club

Round two of my monthly card club is wrapping up and I have decided to change things up a bit for round 3.

There are quite a few people interested in club; but, can't make the usual Wednesday night.  Thursday is the other option I have available.  It seems there is a split between the nights and so I've decided to try something a little different.

I am going to offer 2 clubs; but they will run bi-monthly.  So the Wednesday night club will meet May, July, September, November, January and March.  The Thursday club will meet June, August, October, December, February and April.  You'll note that each club only has 6 meetings.  That is because I am lowering the number of participants to 6.  Each person will be required to spend $33 (before tx & shpg) each month as part of their club agreement.
The advantage to this, is you can join BOTH clubs!  We will make different projects at each club, so there won't be any overlap.

Here is what you'll get when you join my card club:

6 months of card club meetings
1 free Snail adhesive or refill to be kept at my place for use during club meetings
1 free 2014-15 annual catalog + 2 free seasonal catalogs
Hostess Benefits and freebies once during the six month program (twice if you join both groups)
*Bring a friend when it's your month to host and you'll earn an extra gift from me if they place an order; earn two gifts if they join the next round of card club.
3 projects to take home after each club meeting
1 technique booklet at the end of the session highlighting the techniques we've learned.
6 months of fun and friendship!

To join card club, please send me an email to let me know which night you would like to join.  Both clubs will meet the third week of the month; unless otherwise specified in advance.

Please note:  if we cannot fill both clubs, I will run one club and we will work out the day of the week later.

Top 20!

Wow!  Stampin' Up! made the top 20 largest DSA (Direct Selling Association) companies list!  I love that I'm part of this amazing company!

Check out the original post found on CNBC:

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Direct Selling Association (DSA) has announced the 20 Largest DSA Member Companies for 2014. The ranking is based on net U.S. sales in 2013.
Offering products ranging from cosmetics, skincare and wellness to residential energy and gas services, each of the 20 companies named to this year’s list has a unique product and history – yet collectively they represent the positive impact direct selling has on the economy, communities and the millions of Americans who participate in direct selling. Even more, as DSA members, each of these companies has affirmed its commitment to uphold the DSA Code of Ethics, one of the most consumer-oriented self-regulatory codes found in business today.
In alphabetical order, the 20 Largest DSA Member Companies are:
  • AdvoCare International, LP
  • Ambit Energy
  • Amway
  • Arbonne International, LLC
  • Avon Products, Inc.
  • CUTCO/Vector Marketing Corp.
  • Herbalife
  • Isagenix
  • LifeVantage Corporation
  • Mary Kay Inc.
  • Melaleuca, Inc.
  • Nu Skin Enterprises
  • The Pampered Chef
  • Scentsy, Inc.
  • Stampin’ Up!
  • Stream Energy
  • Take Shape for Life – Medifast
  • Team Beachbody
  • Thirty-One Gifts
  • USANA Health Sciences, Inc.
This year’s 20 Largest Companies were formally recognized at a reception and dinner on March 31, which featured remarks by U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Tom Donohue.
“Tonight is about keeping Americans’ dreams alive for future generations,” said Donohue. “You and your companies play a critical role in that, not only by equipping others [with opportunities] through your enterprises, but also by inspiring others through your stories.”
Several of the companies named to DSA’s 20 Largest Direct Selling Companies list rank among the top businesses in the United States in their respective product and service categories.
Among a number of distinguished guests from the business community who attended the event was Mary Power, President and CEO of the Council of Better Business Bureaus (BBB).
“Better Business Bureau is pleased to work with DSA and its members, many of which are BBB Accredited Businesses,” said Power. “Like BBB, DSA’s roots are in truth-in-advertising and ethical business behavior, and the association standards and Code of Ethics help to foster marketplace trust.”
“DSA recognizes these 20 companies as the largest in terms of sales, but for each of these companies there are many more that in their own way are inspiring examples of innovation, opportunity and entrepreneurship,” said DSA President Joseph Mariano. “Millions of Americans each year find success through direct selling, whether it is financial, personal or a combination of both. The cumulative impact of direct selling is nearly immeasurable.”
U.S. direct sales totaled $31.6 billion in 2012, a 5.9 percent year-over-year increase from $29.87 billion in 2011. In 2012, there were 15.9 million U.S. direct sellers, an increase from 15.6 million the prior year.
About Direct Selling
Direct selling is a business model that offers entrepreneurial opportunities to individuals as independent contractors to market and/or sell products and services, typically outside of a fixed retail establishment, through one-to-one selling, in-home product demonstrations or online. Compensation is ultimately based on sales and may be earned based on personal sales and/or the sales of others in their sales organizations.
Direct sellers may be called distributors, representatives, consultants or various other titles. They may participate in various ways, including selling the products themselves or through their sales organizations, providing training and leadership to their sales organizations, referring customers to the company, and purchasing products and services for personal use.
About the Direct Selling Association
DSA is the national trade association of the leading firms that manufacture and distribute goods and services sold directly to consumers. Among its more than 240 active and pending members are companies selling both via a party-plan method and in the traditional person-to-person style. All member companies of DSA have pledged to abide by the provisions of the DSA Code of Ethics, which is enforced by an independent Code Administrator.
For more information on direct selling, DSA and its Code of Ethics, please visit DSA’s website, www.dsa.org.
